Winter is quickly approaching, are you ready? Do you plans set in place to ensure a healthy and happy next few months? This time of year, can prove to be extremely overwhelming on our bodies, health, and wellbeing. Let’s take a minute to explore some quick tips to be the Best YOU that you can be this winter!
Self-Care Plan: It is top priority to put a self-care plan in place for YOU. Yes, you! Often, we get stuck in the midst of “life” and our busy schedules, taking care of an abundant amount of responsibilities. More often than not, that equates to us tending to our own needs last. When we become drained, and overworked with little to no break, lack proper nutrition, sleep, and ample hydration… we are more inclined to become sick. So, let’s retrain our daily routine to include some simplistic self-care. This way we can be happy, healthy and enjoy all those wintry events that are coming up with friends, family and coworkers! What does Self-Care look like, and how can I include it in my daily routine? Self-care is truly anything we do deliberately in order to take care of our physical, mental & emotional health and wellbeing. That includes anything from packing a healthy well-balanced lunch, to actively moving daily, scheduling a reflexology session, taking vitamins/supplements, daily meditation. When we practice consistent self-care, that often leads to improvements in our mental, physical and emotional health. Some things that we can include in a self-care plan are: · Nutrition: A well balanced diet full of seasonal organic produce, organic meats, quality carbohydrates, fortified dairy {such as fatty fish, egg yoks} and plenty of H2O. · Vitamins/Supplements: You will want to consider revisiting your regimen at least twice a year, {ideally, quarterly} to assess what your body needs based on current health, as well as environmental changes. In the frosty winter months that are filled with less sunshine, we often lack vitamin D. So, a good quality vitamin D can be one essential to look at including. Vitamin C is a wonderful preventative for colds and flu. It also can shorten the duration once you have already been infected. · Activity: Get moving! Whatever sparks your interest and will get you motivated to continue, do that. It can be walking, yoga, running, swimming, weight lifting, boxing, cycling. Anything. Daily activity is so important to optimize and maintain our immune systems, as well as our mental and emotional health. · Sleep: Simple, get a good night’s sleep. That’s easy, right? Well if you are anything like me, that task can often be difficult. However, our bodies are amazingly intelligent and receptive… once we begin to nourish it with proper nutrients, vitamins, minerals and introduce daily movement, it kind of resets itself. You should begin to notice a routine if you listen and are aware of your body, it will tell you what it needs, when it needs it. You will begin to fall asleep quicker, stay asleep longer, and achieve a deeper sleep. · YOU Time: This is where you find something that will allow you to find rest, relaxation, stress relief, perhaps you could try to include some bodywork here, such as reflexology. Reflexology is an amazing way to help your body achieve a state of complete wellbeing. Overall it can help combat specific physical ailments, seasonal ailments such as allergies, as well as provide you with relaxation and stress relief. Staying healthy in these winter months will help you fight off any germs that you come in contact with! There are so many diverse holistic options to stay healthy and I would love to share them with you. We can chat about Holisitc nutrition, vitamins/supplements, herbal wellness, aromatherapy, reflexology, and lots more! It's a big deal for some to know how to deal with winter season. Aside from the health reasons, winter keep people immobilized, and we don't want such thing to happen to us. As much as possible, we want to be productive despite the weather. But since there are times where the weather becomes too unbearable, we couldn't function really well and all we want to do is to sleep all day. That's why these things were introduced to the public so we would know how to fight it. Taking vitamins and having just enough of rest will push you to work.
